چکیده

ÐThe goal of the fault diagnosis agreement (FDA) problem is to make each fault-free processor detect/locate a common set of faulty processors. The problem is examined on processors with mixed fault model (also referred to as hybrid fault model). An evidence-based fault diagnosis protocol is proposed to solve the FDA problem. The proposed protocol first collects the messages which have accumulated in the Byzantine agreement protocol as the evidence. By examining the collected evidence, a fault-free processor can detect/locate which processor is faulty. Then, the network can be reconfigured by removing the detected faulty processors and the links connected to these processors from the network. The proposed protocol can detect/locate the maximum number of faulty processors to solve the FDA problem. Index TermsÐByzantine agreement, fault diagnosis agreement, fault-tolerant distributed system, hybrid fault model, mixed fault model.

The Formal Verification of an Algorithm for Interactive Consistency under a Hybrid Fault Model

Modern veriication systems such as PVS are now reaching the stage of development where the formal veriication of critical algorithms is feasible with reasonable eeort. This paper describes one such veriication in the eld of fault tolerance. The distribution of single-source data to replicated computing channels (Interactive Consistency or Byzantine Agreement) is a central problem in this eld. T...

Formal Verification of Hybrid Byzantine Agreement Under Link Faults

We describe an extended fault model for Byzantine Agreement due to Schmid and Weiss. The new fault model extends the previous “hybrid” fault model of Thambidurai and Park by the addition of omission-faulty nodes, and by the introduction of link faults. We formally verify the Hybrid Oral Messages Algorithm (OMH) under this new fault model. Our formal verification improves the analysis of Schmid ...

Exploiting Omissive Faults in Synchronous Approximate Agreement

ÐIn a fault-tolerant distributed system, it is often necessary for nonfaulty processes to agree on the value of a shared data item. The criterion of Approximate Agreement does not require processes to achieve exact agreement on a value; rather, they need only agree to within a predefined numerical tolerance. Approximate Agreement can be achieved through convergent voting algorithms. Previous re...

Stator Turn-to-Turn Fault Detection of Induction Motor by Non-Invasive Method Using Generalized Regression Neural Network

Condition monitoring and protection methods based on the analysis of the machine's current are widely used according to non-invasive characteristics of current transformers. It should be noted that, these sensors are installed by default in the machine control center. On the other hand, condition monitoring based on mathematical methods has been proposed in literature. However, they are model b...
